Livelihood equipment is an important part of high-end equipment. It plays an important role in the development of national economy. China’s livelihood equipment lags behind the international advanced level in terms of international competitiveness and comprehensive level. The outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) further exposed the serious shortcomings in China’s livelihood equipment concerning medical treatment, food, textile, and the like, as well as the urgent need for optimization and upgrading of the industry. In this paper, livelihood equipment regarding agriculture, food, textile, and medical treatment are studied, which are related to the lifeblood of the national economy. Their development status is reviewed, and the problems and shortcomings of China’s livelihood equipment are proposed. The research suggests that intelligent manufacturing should be the major development direction of the livelihood equipment. Specifically, equipment with digital, networked, and intelligent functions should be developed; key components and industrial software should be researched; digital, networked, and intelligent transformation and upgrading of livelihood equipment enterprises should be promoted; and integration with the service industry should be deepened. To ensure and promote the optimization and upgrading of the livelihood equipment in China, the state should make overall plans for supporting policies regarding the livelihood equipment, conduct large-scale technological transformation, build a public platform for technologicalinnovation services for the industry, and strengthen the development and application of domestic equipment and industrial software.

Late blight is one of the most important potato diseases. To minimize yield losses, various protective measures are used including fungicide application. Active use of fungicides results in a contamination of the environment. Therefore, crop protection strategies optimizing the number of treatments are of great interest. Using information about late blight development in an experimental potato field recorded over 30 seasons, a simulator to forecast yield losses caused by the disease was developed based on the number of 5-d periods favorable for reinfection of plants during a vegetation season. The simulator was successfully verified using independent data on the disease development from nine unprotected potato fields in the Netherlands and Germany. The average difference between the calculated and real yield losses did not exceed 5%. Using the simulator and weather data for a period of 2007-2017, yield losses were calculated for several areas of the Bryansk, Tambov, and Orenburg Regions of Russia. The results revealed differences in disease development between these regions and may be used to develop recommendations for a frequency of fungicide applications according to the regional risk of epidemics, leading to a significant reduction in fungicide use.

Based on the Hallak Product Quality model, we construct an empirical product quality model adopting unit value, distance between countries, income per capita. This research measures Chinese, Indian and Brazilian manufacturing quality of HS6 products that export to the U.S., from 2003 to 2013. And we put forward policy recommendations to improve China’s product quality upgrading ability in the international market.

Strategic Study of CAE 2013, Volume 15, Issue 4, Pages 83-90
The competence of resisting nature extreme disaster is widely concerned after Fukushima nuclear incident in Japan. Many countries carry through investigation actively. The seismic is one of primary threatens for nuclear power plant safety. Therefore the seismic ability of nuclear power plants becomes the investigative emphasis. The floor response spectra is the input of the seismic design for nuclear plant systems, structures and components, and the important part of the seismic design, which is holding the balance in nuclear plant seismic safety. In this paper we use the third generation nuclear power plant example that is ACP1000 normal design excogitated by the China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., LTD. themselves to expatiate the reasonable seismic input and the advanced analysis method for China. Through introducing the input, the analysis process and the method about the ACP1000 floor response spectra are calculated. Then it has significant effect for improving the nuclear power plant seismic design and seismic safety.

The lack of brands is one significant sign of Chinese-made goods known as large but not strong, and it is an important reason that Chinese products are very difficult to enter the international high-end market. The change from “Chinese products”to “Chinese brand”is an inevitable way for transformation and upgrading of China Manufacturing. Through a variety of research methods including literature reviews, expert interviews, surveys, case studies, etc., this paper describes the overall situation and problems of Chinese brand development and analyzes the causes from the perspectives of macro factors, business factors, product/service quality factors and the medium factors. According to the different roles played by the government and the enterprises in Chinese manufacturing brand development, this paper brings out strategic suggestions, respectively.
